About department

The Chair of Economics and Finance was founded in 2002.
From the moment of creation until 2017, the Chair functioned under the leadership of Doctor of Economics, Professor, Director of Institute of Economics and Business Sandoyan Edward.
Since September 2017, the Chair is supervised by the doctor of economic sciences, associate professor Voskanyan Mariam.
The functional of the Chair includes both the organization of the educational process and research activities in various areas of economic science.

Educational process
As part of the functioning of the Chair, three stages of organizing the educational process are implemented.

Research activities of the department
The Chair carries out fundamental theoretical and empirical research in the field of financial and economic processes and develops scientific products that are in demand from both domestic and foreign businesses.
The key directions of the Research Chair of Economics and Finance are:
• The economic growth;
• Monetary and foreign exchange regulation;
• Financial system and institutions of financial intermediation;
• Banking regulation and supervision;
• Taxes and taxation;
• Public finance and fiscal policy;
• Transit economies and countries with emerging markets;
• International economic integration;
• State regulation of the economy and economic policy of the state;
• Human capital;
• Higher education and educational process, etc.

The Chair has several scientific groups on topical areas of the theory of economics and finance, the main goal of which is to carry out a comprehensive study of the prospects for the development of the Armenian economy in the context of transformation and integration processes.
The Chair is actively involved in organizing scientific seminars, conferences and round tables on various topics. Much attention is paid to work with the scientific potential of students, international relations and joint scientific research with leading universities of the near and far abroad.

Biography

Born Date: August 23, 1980 (Republic of Armenia, Yerevan).
Graduated from the specialty and postgraduate study of the Russian-Armenian University, where in 2008 received a PhD in Economics in the specialty “Finance, Monetary Circulation and Credit” on the topic “Problems of inflation targeting in monetary policy (on the example of the Republic of Armenia)”and in 2017 Doctorate degree in economics, specializing in “Finance, accounting” on the topic “Problems of modernization of the currency regulation system in the Republic of Armenia”. Also graduated from the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences, where she received a master’s degree of the Russian Federation, specializing in Management in Education, and The University of Manchester, where received a Master of Education.
Winner of the Youth Grant of the Astana Club of Nobel Prize Laureates in the nomination “Best Research Work”.

Work Experience

Has been teaching at RAU since 2004.
From 2010 to 2017 was the head of Department of Economic Theory and Problems of the Economy in Transition of the RAU.
Currently is the head of the Chair of Economics and Finance of the RAU.
Member of the Academic Council of RAU, also a member of the Specialized Council 008 of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Armenia on economic sciences, speciality 08.00.03 – “Finance, accounting”.

She is the author of over 140 published scientific works, textbooks and monographs, including in scientific journals of the Republic of Armenia, the Russian Federation and Europe in the field of macroeconomics, finance, monetary and foreign exchange regulation, financial intermediation, as well as problems of higher education and the formation of human capital.
