RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

The Department of Economics and Finance conducts fundamental theoretical and empirical research in the field of financial and economic processes and develops scientific products that are in demand by both domestic and international businesses.

The key research areas of the Department of Economics and Finance include:

  • The economy of Armenia;
  • Economic growth and development;
  • Macroeconomic policy: theory and practice;
  • Taxation and tax policies;
  • Public finance and fiscal policy;
  • Monetary and currency regulation;
  • The financial system and financial intermediation institutions;
  • Banking regulation and supervision;
  • Transition economies and emerging markets;
  • Global economy;
  • International trade and finance;
  • International economic integration;
  • Human capital;
  • Higher education and educational processes, and more.

The department hosts several research groups focusing on current topics in economic and financial theory. Their main goal is to conduct comprehensive studies on the prospects for Armenia’s economic development within the context of transformational and integration processes.

The department actively organizes scientific seminars, conferences, and roundtable discussions on various topics. Special attention is paid to fostering the scientific potential of students, developing international collaborations, and conducting joint research with leading universities from neighboring and distant countries.

Since 2003, the Department of Economics and Finance has been actively organizing the Annual RAU Year-End Conference and the Annual RAU Student Conference.

The department is also deeply involved in publishing activities, including monographs, educational and methodological manuals, collections of scientific works, and research articles in various indexed publications.
